Arboretum v0.1.1

Arboretum's first public update includes some significant improvements to automatic connections and a number of bug fixes to improve Arboretum's user experience.

Improved Entity detection and resolution

Real-time connection building is Arboretum's most important feature, and it's all built on top of Arboretum's Entity reference detection algorithm. Arboretum v0.1.1 includes a number of significant improvements to this algorithm to build connections more reliably.

Merging adjacent entities

In v0.1.0, Arboretum would struggle with Entity names which included conjunctions or other non-nouns. For example, "Dungeons and Dragons" would be detected as two separate entities and connected independently, with a link for "Dungeons" and a link for "Dragons". Arboretum now correctly merges these references and connects them in a single link.

Stripping articles

Arboretum now strips articles (a, an, the) from Entity references when inserting links to the new connections.

Improved disambiguation of multiple Entitiy matches

The first version of Arboretum would struggle as soon as you had two different Entities in your project which shared a common word in their name. With v0.1.1, Arboretum is significantly better at disambiguating these cases and connecting the correct Entities. It's still not perfect, but it will only continue to improve with future updates. Enhanced discoverability

The other key theme of Arboretum v0.1.1 is improving the discoverability of Arboretum's features. Many of the shortcuts for common actions in Arboretum weren't well advertised in the previous version, so I've made a few changes to help you find them.

Help window

There's a new help window which details all of the hotkeys and formatting options available in Arboretum, along with more comprehensive explanantions of the different Document types and how to use them.

You can open the new help window with the new button in the bottom left.

Popup tips

Arboretum now shows popup tips when you take the "slow path" to perform common actions.

Other fixes

v0.1.1 also includes a number of bug fixes to improve the overall user experience. The most significant of these is a fix for the suggestion tooltip, which will now correctly show the suggestion for the Entity you're hovering over and move consistently.
